The most widely used raw material in the textile industry, cotton has a long way to go before becoming a garment. To understand this union between art and countryside, the Agroligadas movement will hold on August 24, Rural Cotton Tourism: from seed to closet. The event will bring together about 50 guests connected to fashion, art, communication, and digital influence.<\/p>\n\n

This is the 2nd edition of the Cotton Tourism, which will be held in the municipality of Campo Verde (133 km from Cuiab\u00e1). Promoting an immersion in the cotton production, experiencing the day to day of a plantation, from the harvest to the production of fiber is the main objective, as the event’s organizer and Agroligadas’ president, Geni Schenkel, tells us.<\/p>\n\n

“On the farm, the guests will have the opportunity to see a cotton plantation, all the machinery used, as well as the techniques used in this important work, aimed at the good progress of the textile industry,” he said.<\/p>\n\n

Stylists, fashion designers, architects, clothing retailers, and communication influencers will have the opportunity to see up close how cotton, which was once considered “white gold” in Brazil, is transformed into yarn.<\/p>\n\n

Among the guests, stylist from the Midwest Region Theo Alexandre and designer of the brand Thear, which creates its pieces from natural fibers with a focus on cotton, will show his new collection that was presented on June 3 through a film at the S\u00e3o Paulo Fashion Week.<\/p>\n\n

“We will present to the participants how this training of the people who work in the production is done, and also show where our cotton planted in Mato Grosso reaches the world, how we produce in a sustainable way, especially the cotton chain that has traceability,” Geni explained.<\/p>\n\n

The event will also bring an exhibition of handicrafts made of cotton produced by the Pantanal lace-makers and indigenous tribes of Mato Grosso. “There will be talks with rural producers, stylists, artists, collaborators, interaction with the existing technology in the field, which will enable them to learn about the traceability of this chain, and they will discover how cotton is part of our daily lives, much more than just fabric”, Geni said.<\/p>\n\n

The program starts at 9am with a visit to the cotton fields, which are being harvested. Next, the group heads to the cotton mill and spinning mill. “It’s going to be a day of knowledge, discoveries, and that will be marked forever in the memory of the participants. It’s another event that fulfills our purpose of contributing to improve the image of agribusiness in society,” concluded the president of Agroligadas, Geni Schenkel.<\/p>\n\n

The action is supported by the Mato Grosso Association of Cotton Producers (Ampa) and has partnerships with the Sou do Algod\u00e3o Movement and the Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers (Abrapa). Also sponsored by FMC Agr\u00edcola, John Deere – Agrobaggio, Igua\u00e7u M\u00e1quinas, Aster M\u00e1quinas, and Primavera M\u00e1quinas dealers.
