Norte Show Kids is successfully concluded by the Agroligadas of Sinop

Action took more than 1700 children to the fair and disseminated the teachings about agribusiness

Last Friday, April 22nd, we concluded our participation in another edition of the Norte Show with a special project aimed at fourth graders, called Norte Show Kids. After four very intense and enriching days, even for us who have been living the agro for some time, we have come back to our memories and to tell you in the smallest detail how our event was.

Under the organization of the Agroligadas of the Sinop nucleus, the action was designed so that no school would be left out. In total more than 2000 children were invited, when more than 1700 accepted to participate in our project. In the first one we received around 450 children, who visited the fair divided into groups, so that the tour would be more organized and they could take better advantage of all the teachings and novelties.

Throughout the fair, the children got to know the livestock section and could see animals such as oxen, sheep, ponies, and horses up close. At the technical showcases, our special guests spent some time learning from lectures and information about corn and soy production, among others. In the machinery wing, they were greeted with much knowledge and demonstrations. Embrapa and EMPAER were also there with a very complete structure where all the children could easily see real agribusiness.

But one of the great successes of Norte Show Kids was really the Sensory Garden. With a very special space designed specifically for them, the children had complete experiences and could smell the earth and the plants. The staff at the booth taught them how to take cassava straight from the ground and other secrets about how to set up a vegetable garden. The explanations about hydroponics also kept everyone’s eyes attentive and entertained.

In partnership with some companies, we also had moments set aside for the children to have a snack, followed by a refreshing popsicle. Throughout the fair, it was possible to notice that people noticed our work and talked about the importance of the action of taking the children to get to know the agro. In total, we counted on the presence and help of at least 30% of the women who are part of the Sinop branch, which helped us to offer the children the welcome they deserved from the moment they arrived until each group left. “The children were very interested and stopped to tell us how much they were enjoying the experience. Some said it was the happiest day of their lives,” says Edenize Perin, Coordinator of the Agrolinked Women’s Center of Sinop.

To finish the children’s tour, when they left, they all received a personalized bag with a comic book that was made especially for the occasion. The booklet was made in partnership with some companies and thought specifically for the Norte Show Kids. In total, 2,000 copies were printed.

For the members of the nucleus, the action was a success, where not only the children, but everyone could learn and exchange experiences. “The Norte Show Kids was an event. We were able to fill the park and bring even more life to the fair. We saw the kids learning as they walked around, and that was the coolest thing,” Edenize concluded.
